Geometric shapes are a large component of my style, and I am intrigued by maps. This piece allowed me to combine both of those elements. I chose to incorporate shapes in repetition within the city blocks of this map, to allow the paper to show through on the side streets to create negative space, and to leave the main street black to draw the viewer’s attention to the top right of the piece. This decision to attract attention to the top right of the piece allows the viewer’s eye to follow the road throughout the work, much like if the viewer were reading a map. This print is one in a series of 12.
